Java Deen’s Green Bean Casserole
Introducing…
Since the holidays are once again upon us, and many of us are looking for another excuse to stuff ourselves silly, this seems an appropriate moment to present another famous duck, Java “Bean” Deen. Now, if you’re at all familiar with a few of the famous chefs of our day, no doubt you’ve heard of Paula Deen, the human cooking sensation, who also happens to be a famous television personality, actress, author and restaurateur.
Wayward Duck
Sadly, Java Deen is one of those pathetic little ducks who has taken it upon herself to try to imitate the real McCoy. Yes, I realize it’s usually humans who imitate a more worthy duck, but alas, in Java’s case we can only shake our heads and sigh over her cheap silver-haired wig, obvious beak job and poorly applied lipstick.

Say A Little Prayer
And it’s not that old Java isn’t a decent cook in her own right. Oh, sure Java may not be as polished as dear Paula, but in our book she makes a thoroughly righteous Green Bean Casserole—one we want to share below. Happy eating folks, and as you gather around the table for your next meal, it would be great if y’all add a little prayer for Java to come to her senses.
Without Further Ado
Here’s Java Dean’s Green Bean Casserole:
Ingredients:
1 medium “Sweet” onion chopped
10 mushrooms (brown or white) sliced
1 tablespoon extra light olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
3 cloves of fresh garlic crushed
2 cans “Cream of Mushroom” soup
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup low or no fat sour cream.
4 cans “French” cut green beans drained
1 8 oz packaged of Swiss cheese grated
1 can French Fried Onion Rings

So good everyone wants seconds.
Cooking Instructions
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Brown the onions and mushrooms in a pan with your oil on medium heat. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook until the onions just start to brown, and then add in the crushed garlic and continue cooking another minute or two. Remove from heat. Stir the soup, milk and sour cream together in a separate dish, then add the mixture to the mushrooms and onions. Drain the beans and then add them to the rest along with half the grated cheese. Stir and place it in a casserole dish. Sprinkle the remainder of the cheese on top. Cover the dish (foil works well if your dish doesn’t have it’s own cover) and cook for 30 minutes in the oven. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the canned French Fried Onions on top. Put the dish back in the oven with the top off and heat for 10 minutes. Remove and serve.
